The nylon is inert to fungus or mould and is resistant to petrols, oil, grease, and alkalis ECT. Testing of the ties has been based on the full requirements as directed in MILITARY SPECIFICATION MIL-S-23190E and underwrites LABORATORY SPECIFICATION U.L 1565.

Black cable ties are recommended for general outdoor use and have economic resistance to ultra violet light.
